I get an error half way through saying
setup cannot find proplus.WW\ose.exe
any ideas?

Do you have another pc to install it on to make sure the media kit is working?
Maybe more of a run down of your setup?

go and delete the Office 12/ microsoft office directory.
Then use microsoft installer clean up. I think it was called.
Then do office removal there. Then if you find any reference to Office in Registry.
reboot and disable all start up programs.
Reboot and try and install. Is it working now?

Oh and its a fresh install of Win7 pro. Only installed skype and MSN, I've deleted skype as it apparently causes a conflict with ports. But how do I check if those ports are now free?

make sure your installing it as Admin
i.e run it as Admin
