we're using some thomson, generic telecom thingy, and every time the phone rings the wireless drops will changing the channel for the wireless make a difference, or should it have chosen the best one by default? is the modem/router a pos? i have a linksys router as well, could i run this off it? would it make it better? would it fill my world with sunshine and rainbows, or will i be left lonely and unfulfilled in life? help

Channel 11 is best.
192.168.1.254 Click grey work wireless down the bottom of screen Click configure up top right Change wireless channel from Auto to Manual Set as 11..
Could also be a CPE/internal wiring fault. Check if Broadband/internet lights stay on when phone rings.

Yeah totally. I'm sure you know the theory and all best Brent, but I work in the reality of it.
And in years of experience, cordless phones stay at the other frequency end of the stick. Sky repeaters and baby monitors too.

All 2 years I have over 50 Thomson wifi modems connected around me/in the lab. Also, wifi doesnt only use 1 channel, it uses a bunch, normally 5. so there are overlaps. .svg) Gay image, see it better here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/8c/2.4_GHz_Wi-Fi_channels_(802.11b,g_WLAN).svgIt tends to work better when you figure out what is going on and select an appropriate channel, rather than just throwing a random number out there... While it may be best in some (or a perceived 'most') cases, its not always going to be

So, its still real life experience in real life situations! And yes it is a perceived "most" cases, but once again from real kiwis, in real situations. Hence Channel 11 works best. If you want to environmentally configure Glens wireless connection, that's all yours to do! Lol, who else has 50 Thomson modems configured at any one time around them in NZ?? That comment is irrelevant here.

wireless is, don't know about the cordless though, as it's pretty old
seems to be going ok on channel 6 for now, but haven't been home much to really tell if it's fixed it
