There don't seem to be many around these days. The only ones I can find that really fit what I'm after are these: JBL GTO804Polk MOMO MM2084Pioneer TSSW841DAny idea which would best suit a sealed enclosure around 0.5cuft?

There will be other options like Atomic, Kicker etc, but you may not find them specifically listed on a retailers website. Atomic are sold primarily by Paul's Audio in Christchurch. Kicker is sold in many places, and there are a few different options, but you'll want to find out which ones are actually available. Send a PM to Livin Loud on here: memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=3640 and find out what options there are. below is taken from Kicker's website: http://www.kicker.com/SubwoofersComps: between 0.5 - 1.2 cuft Comp VR: between 0.4 - 1.8 cuft Comp VT: between 0.4 - 1.8 cuft Solo Classic: 0.33 cuft Solobaric L5: between 0.33 - 0.75 Solobaric L7: between 0.33 - 0.75

I would forget the Pioneer straight of the bat.
the Polk and JBL will both work in space a little as 0.35ft3. you can go ported around the 0.5ft3 - 0.65ft3.
The JBL will be your best bet. Trying to organise someone to send me gear from the states at the moment. If I do I'll let you know if you want some of the JBL's let me know.
Polk have dropped or sold their company in the states. All their speakers have gone to china I believe. There are many people complaining about the quality and durability of the latest gear. Much the same as when RE Audio sold up and now all their re X rebrand is also built on power quality.
So yeah just bear that in mind.
The JBL I believe will be the most versatile.
However You can also get Image Dynamics ID8V3's. They will work really well too. However I believe most of the places are out of stock in the states. There are two that have been sold to a forum member here. But I believe he will not let them go.
If He did I would buy them in an instant.

kicker do 8", repco can order them in I have a pair of the CVT 6.5" subs in my rear doors, they are free air in the doors, and go ok, im never going to get the 12" sub kick from them, but they have improved the general bass response in the car alot, which was my aim. power them properly and give them a week or 2 to fully run in before really expecting alot.
I also have 2 fusion 8" subs here too, one has been used lightly for 6 months in a small box, and teh other is brand new.

I was leaning towards the JBL. Had a look at the specs and I'll have to measure up properly to see if I can get a ported box in. A small sealed box won't be a problem though.

Bremrose - but surely 1508 will require ported for it's potential? I thought 0.7 would be the smallest it could be run in?
